Our Award
The Central Otago Tourism Award 2010
This award recognises a tourism business that demonstrates key attributes of sustained success, innovation and high standards of service.
The Winner...The Old Doctor’s Residence
The Old Doctor’s Residence located in the historic precinct of Naseby has been sensitively restored by the husband and wife team of Jan and Grant Bean into a gracious luxurious Bed and Breakfast accommodation.
These former Aucklanders who once owned pharmacies on Queen St in Auckland’s CBD, were captivated by Naseby and Central Otago with its extraordinary landscapes, people and tourism opportunities and were motivated enough to invest in the region. Since opening in 2007, they have steadily increased their occupancy rates and have impressively achieved a four-star plus Qualmark rating and the Enviro Silver award for sustainable practices.
At The Old Doctor’s Residence guests are treated with a memorable experience of excellence – in service and hospitality, food presentation and attention to detail. To quote a guest “We too have been gathered in, graced with the most sublime of all that is the very best in NZ. You both so embody what the ancient Maori proverb says, “te tangata, te tangata, te tangata”. What is the most important thing? “It is the people, it is the people ……”
The judges were truly impressed by their ‘quality comprehensive package’. It is all about meeting the needs of the evermore discerning traveller keen to return, time and again.
